XR Experience Strategist

We are seeking a thoughtful, research-driven XR Experience Strategist to shape and deliver immersive experiences at the intersection of extended reality, storytelling, and audience engagement.

The successful candidate will lead research, concept development, and strategic delivery for projects that translate complex ideas into engaging, rigorous, and accessible XR experiences.

This is a hands-on role working closely with designers, developers, researchers, partner institutions, and the communications team to build intellectually rich, visually compelling immersive experiences and accompanying programs.

Lead research and concept development for XR experiences combining immersive storytelling and contemporary digital practice.

Identify, commission and cultivate relationships with designers, developers, artists, technologists, and labs.

Produce experience documents, labels, wall copy, press materials and catalogue-style essays that communicate complex topics clearly.

Develop project timelines, production briefs, and coordinate fabrication, installation and deinstallation with technical teams and vendors.

Manage project budgets, schedules and supplier/contractor relationships.

Organize accompanying public programs: talks, panel discussions, workshops, demos, and educational materials.

Liaise with technical partners to ensure accurate and ethical presentation of research; arrange access to labs, prototypes or datasets as required.

Oversee documentation, photography, and archival records for each project.

Support fundraising and grant applications by preparing research summaries and proposals.

Monitor audience feedback and research impact; refine interpretive strategies to increase accessibility and engagement.

Minimum BA/MA in Experience Design, Curatorial Studies, Digital Media, Human-Computer Interaction, Science & Technology Studies, or a related field; PhD or equivalent research experience preferred.

At least 3–5 years experience in XR, digital experience design, research or project delivery in a studio, museum, lab, startup, consultancy, or equivalent setting.

Demonstrable interest in and familiarity with XR topics (virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality, spatial computing) — deep technical expertise is not required, but proven ability to learn and collaborate with technical teams is essential.

Strong research, writing and editorial skills — able to produce clear, engaging interpretive texts and funding materials.

Project management experience: budgets, timelines, supplier coordination and logistics.

Excellent interpersonal skills and experience building cross-disciplinary collaborations between designers, developers, researchers and institutions.

Fluency in English; additional languages an asset.
