Wood Veneer Pressing Operator

Role purpose

Machine operation and production

• Operate hot and cold veneer press machines according to production requirements and approved procedures.
• Read job instructions and drawings to confirm panel dimensions, veneer type, grain direction, and finish requirements.
• Coordinate veneer cutting, matching, and jointing to achieve the approved pattern.
• Prepare and apply specified adhesive evenly according to manufacturer instructions.
• Set pressing temperature, pressure, and cycle time based on material, adhesive, and machine requirements.
• Position and align veneer sheets accurately before loading panels into the press.
• Monitor pressing operations and handle panels during unloading, cooling, and stacking.

Quality, maintenance, and safety

• Inspect veneer sheets and base panels for defects, cleanliness, and suitability before pressing.
• Inspect finished panels for bubbles, peeling, cracks, uneven bonding, surface marks, and misalignment.
• Minimise material waste and promptly report defects, machine faults, and production delays.
• Clean equipment, perform authorised basic maintenance, and coordinate repairs with the maintenance team.
• Follow safety procedures, use required PPE, and ensure machine guards and safety devices are functioning.
• Maintain daily production records and keep the work area clean and organised.

Qualifications and experience

• At least 2–3 years of experience operating veneer press machines in a joinery or furniture-manufacturing workshop.
• Practical knowledge of veneers, MDF, plywood, adhesives, and pressing processes.
• Ability to read basic drawings and use measuring tools.
• Secondary-school education or relevant technical training is preferred.
• Good attention to detail, quality awareness, and ability to work as part of a production team.

Pay

• Pay is AED 2,500–3,500 per month.
