YOUR ROLE

As a Video Surveillance Engineer at DataOne, you will be the technical authority for the

end-to-end design, deployment, and optimization of our datacenter’s video surveillance

ecosystem. Operating within our "AI Factories," you will own the Milestone XProtect VMS

configuration including rules, alarms, and failover while implementing AI-enabled

detection to secure mission-critical assets. You will ensure that surveillance hardware and

analytics integrate seamlessly with SOC operations and access control to maintain

industrial-scale operational excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1) Surveillance Architecture & Design (Coverage, Standards, Implementation)

● Provide technical input on camera placement, lens selection, and FOV for optimal

coverage of perimeters, data halls, mantraps, and utility spaces (UPS/Generators).

● Produce and maintain design documentation, including coverage maps, camera

schedules, and risk-based density justifications.

● Participate in new builds and expansions by reviewing security design packages and

ensuring install quality through commissioning checklists.

2) Hardware Selection & Recommendations (Cameras, Storage, Servers, Network)

● Recommend and validate datacenter-grade hardware, including thermal, PTZ, and multi-

sensor cameras with appropriate IP/IK ratings.

● Design recording architecture, focusing on server sizing, N+1 failover, RAID resilience,

and bandwidth planning.

● Align with IT/network teams on VLAN segmentation, PoE budgets, and cybersecurity

hardening strategies.

3) Milestone XProtect Administration & Engineering

● Serve as the SME for Milestone XProtect (Corporate/Expert) regarding installation,

upgrades, licensing, and lifecycle management.

● Configure the Management Client for optimal recording, retention, and firmware

coordination.

● Build robust configurations including AD integration, secure authentication, and camera

groups for SOC workflows.

4) AI Analytics & Detection (Intrusion, Tailgating, Anomaly Detection)

● Deploy AI technologies for perimeter intrusion, loitering, and tailgating detection ("two

people passing").

● Define detection zones and sensitivity profiles to minimize false positives while

maintaining high confidence thresholds.

● Establish testing methodologies and tuning playbooks to validate performance across

varying environmental conditions.

5) Event Rules, Alerting, and Video “Pop-on-Alarm” Workflows

● Implement event-driven workflows leveraging AI embedded analytics for "door forced" or

"invalid entry" scenarios.

● Correlate access control events with video to build logic for "held open" or "mantrap

violation" alarms.

● Configure Smart Client "Pop-on-Alarm" views and auto-start high-bitrate recording upon

critical alerts.

6) Operations Support, Maintenance, and Continuous Improvement

● Own system health and reliability, monitoring recording gaps, storage health, and stream

stability.

● Develop SOPs for maintenance schedules, alarm response, and periodic coverage re-

validation.

● Provide L2/L3 escalation support to the SOC and onsite security teams.

7) Compliance, Security, and Governance

● Ensure alignment with datacenter compliance, including data retention policies and

access logging.

● Implement privacy masking and restricted view controls as required by local regulations.

● Support incident investigations through evidence export, timeline reconstruction, and

root-cause analysis.

8) Project & Vendor Management

● Coordinate with integrators for FAT/SAT testing, commissioning, and punch list

resolution.

● Manage procurement inputs, including Bills of Materials (BOM) and spares strategy.

● Maintain accurate asset inventories, including firmware versions and license lifecycles.

Profile we are looking for

We are looking for a committed, structured, and results-oriented professional.

Ideally, you bring:1

● Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, IT, or related field (Master’s

preferred).

● Technical Expertise: Deep experience with Milestone XProtect, HV/MV power

distribution, and AI analytics.

● Tools: Proficiency in electrical/security modeling software (ETAP, SKM, etc.) and project

management tools.

● Soft Skills: Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; a "security-

first" and proactive mindset.
