Role Overview
Join the urban development department in Riyadh as an Urban Planner.
Support the design, analysis, and technical coordination of masterplans at multiple scales.
Contribute to innovative and sustainable urban planning initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Support urban planning and master planning projects under senior team guidance.
- Develop plot parcelation, land use plans, and development parameters.
- Contribute to site analysis, demographic studies, and spatial assessments.
- Develop basic 3D massing models and spatial studies for density, built form, and public realm strategies.
- Prepare diagrams, layouts, presentations, and illustrative masterplan materials.
- Coordinate with architects, landscape architects, engineers, and environmental specialists.
- Assist in technical reports, presentations, and submission packages for client and authority review.
- Integrate sustainability, mobility, and smart city principles into planning proposals.
- Support preparation of development control regulations, plot guidelines, and planning documentation.
- Participate in stakeholder workshops and internal design reviews.
- Stay informed about emerging urban planning practices and local regulatory frameworks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, or a related field.
- Mixed skills across planning, urban, architecture, and landscape are highly appreciated.
- Familiarity with urban planning principles, land-use planning, and development control regulations.
- 5-10 years of progressive experience in urban planning focused on large-scale urban development.
- Strong urban design and conceptual design skills for land-use layouts, block structures, street sections, and public realm concepts.
- Understanding of urban morphology, placemaking, mobility integration, and public realm design.
- Ability to support master plans (CMP/DMP/SMP), urban design guidelines, presentations, and technical reports.
- Proficiency in CAD and Adobe applications required; Revit and GIS familiarity is an advantage.
- Experience with 3D modeling such as Rhino + Grasshopper, SketchUp, or ENVI-met.
- Familiarity with development control regulations and basic planning approval processes.
- In-depth knowledge of Saudi Arabia's urban planning regulations is an advantage.
- Basic understanding of sustainable urban design, mobility planning, and public realm design principles.
