Job Summary
The Underwriting Assistant – Marine Insurance provides administrative and operational support to the Marine Underwriting team by assisting with quotations, policy issuance, endorsements, renewals, documentation, and client servicing activities.
The role ensures the accurate and timely processing of marine insurance transactions while maintaining compliance with company procedures and insurer requirements.
Underwriting Support
- Assist Marine Underwriters in preparing quotations for marine cargo, hull, and related marine insurance risks.
- Review proposal forms and supporting documents for completeness and accuracy.
- Prepare policy schedules, certificates, endorsements, declarations, and renewal documentation.
- Follow up with clients, insurers, and internal teams for outstanding information and documentation.
- Ensure accurate data entry into underwriting and policy administration systems.
Policy Administration
- Process new business, renewals, endorsements, cancellations, and policy amendments.
- Issue marine insurance certificates and policy documents within agreed timelines.
- Maintain accurate records of quotations, policies, endorsements, and renewals.
- Monitor policy expiry dates and assist with renewal follow-ups.
Client & Insurer Coordination
- Liaise with clients, insurers, shipping agents, freight forwarders, and brokers regarding policy requirements.
- Respond to routine inquiries relating to coverage, documentation, and policy status.
- Coordinate with insurers to obtain quotations and policy terms.
- Assist in resolving policy administration and documentation issues.
Documentation & Compliance
- Ensure all underwriting documents comply with insurer guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical filing systems.
- Support internal audits and compliance reviews.
- Ensure proper record-keeping of all marine underwriting transactions.
Reporting & Administrative Support
- Prepare renewal lists, production reports, and underwriting trackers.
- Maintain marine policy registers and monitoring reports.
- Assist with premium reconciliation and administrative tasks as required.
- Support the Marine Department in achieving service standards and operational objectives.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Insurance, Logistics, Maritime Studies, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in insurance administration, underwriting support, or marine insurance operations.
- Previous experience in marine insurance, freight forwarding, shipping, or logistics is an advantage.
- Basic understanding of marine insurance products and terminology.
- Pay: AED4,000.00 - AED5,000.00 per month
