The Opportunity
The Transport Coordinator will work within the Transport team supporting Gist's operation for M&S Food.
The role reports to the Transport Shift Manager.
Working Pattern
- The role follows a rotational four-on, four-off shift pattern of 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM and 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
What You'll Be Doing
- Act as the first point of contact for drivers and manage briefings, debriefings, and queries.
- Ensure compliance with requirements relating to the Operating License.
- Deliver operational improvements across cost, service, and peak planning.
- Provide customer service and resolve or escalate live operational issues.
- Monitor route performance and ensure timely delivery.
- Manage supplier queries and escalate issues to management when required.
- Manage daily administration, including payroll, holidays, exceptions, and scheduling.
- Assist with wider team administration and export activities while maintaining compliance with rules and regulations.
What We're Looking For
- Have proven experience working in a fast-paced transport environment, ideally with experience collaborating and communicating with transport teams and drivers.
- Be confident briefing and debriefing drivers and resolving queries quickly.
- Be IT literate and able to use Microsoft packages, particularly Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Be a team player, natural problem solver, and highly attentive to detail.
- Have a passion for transport.
- Applicants without transport experience may be considered if they have a willingness to learn and proven administrative or coordination skills.
Role Details
- Salary is up to £31,515.87 per annum plus an additional shift allowance of £1,125 per annum.
- The role is based at Carlton Industrial Estate, Industry Road, Carlton, Barnsley, S71 3LJ.
