Job Summary

The Automotive Tools Keeper is responsible for the control, storage, maintenance, issuance, and tracking of workshop tools and equipment.

The role ensures that all tools are properly maintained, available when required, and accounted for at all times to support efficient workshop operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of all workshop tools, equipment, and special service tools.
  • Issue and receive tools from technicians and workshop staff.
  • Monitor tool usage and ensure proper documentation of tool movement.
  • Conduct regular tool inventory checks and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Ensure tools are stored safely, organized, and easily accessible.
  • Inspect tools regularly for damage, wear, or malfunction and arrange repairs or replacements when necessary.
  • Maintain calibration records for measuring and diagnostic equipment, where applicable.
  • Track missing, damaged, or lost tools and report incidents to management.
  • Coordinate with the procurement department for tool purchases and replacements.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety standards and housekeeping requirements.
  • Maintain records of tool warranties, service schedules, and maintenance history.
  • Support workshop efficiency by ensuring required tools are available for scheduled jobs.
  • Assist in implementing tool control systems and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification is an advantage.
  • 2–3 years of experience in a workshop, tool room, or automotive environment.
  • Knowledge of automotive hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and workshop machinery.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with inventory management systems.
  • Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accountability.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain accurate inventory records.
