Technology Engineer (UAE National)

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot Spark, Hive, and YARN jobs and improve Spark performance with data engineering teams.
• Automate platform operations, security and regulatory checks, patching, infrastructure workflows, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop automation using Shell, Terraform, Groovy, Ansible, and preferably Python.
• Support Podman, Docker, OpenShift, and Kubernetes containerization and management.
• Contribute to roadmaps, backlog delivery, technology stack reduction, and cost-of-ownership improvements.
• Collaborate across platform, security, architecture, data, agile, infrastructure, application, and product teams.
• Apply Agile, DevOps, and product management practices to deliver reliable, scalable, secure services.
• Highly preferred: install, configure, maintain, and support Cloudera CDP 7.1.9 or later and Cloudera Data Services 1.5.4 and 1.5.5.
• Highly preferred: provide Tier 2 Cloudera production support, including maintenance, security enablement, observability, and performance optimization.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of engineering or operational experience, including at least 1 year in a similar technology engineering or platform operations role.
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience in infrastructure, systems administration, design, and engineering, with a focus on cloud computing, DevOps, and automation.
• Good understanding of Linux, networking fundamentals, Git source control, and Agile engineering practices.
• Experience in complex, high-availability enterprise environments with demanding transaction volumes and geographically distributed systems.
• Understanding of technical risk, information security, compliance, audit, and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to build stakeholder relationships and communicate technical concepts clearly; strategic mindset balancing long-term goals and practical delivery.
• Highly preferred: hands-on Cloudera CDP operations, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.

• Listed technologies include Spark, Hive, YARN, Ansible, Terraform, Shell scripting, Groovy, Python, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD, Podman, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Linux, Git, CI/CD, observability, automation, Agile, and DevOps.
• Cloudera CDP and Cloudera Data Services are highly preferred.
