Leads day-to-day aviation maintenance department operations and reports to the Operations Manager.
Manages maintenance planning, administration, and resources while ensuring aircraft readiness and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Manage aircraft maintenance personnel schedules, work hours, and overtime.
- Ensure inspections, maintenance practices, standards, and records comply with OEM, regulatory, TAMMS-A, and company requirements.
- Guide and counsel section managers and ensure team leads provide productive oversight.
- Maintain personnel training and ensure staff are trained on new aircraft models before assignment.
- Ensure aircraft meet airworthiness standards, technical manuals, airworthiness directives, and good maintenance practices.
- Direct phase inspections, modifications, and repairs of aircraft structures, engines, and accessories in the manager’s absence.
- Coordinate with Production Control and maintenance team leads on aircraft status and forecast downtime.
- Determine staffing needs from current and projected workloads; ensure staff have required tools, equipment, and training.
Experience and qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of directly related civilian aviation maintenance experience as an aviation safety professional.
- Minimum five years of management experience.
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate or industry equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of FAA and EASA requirements, or equivalent Army maintenance practices including TAMMS-A.
- Bachelor’s degree in an aviation discipline is preferred; a master’s degree is highly desired.
- Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
