Role overview

Experienced tactical aviation professional supporting evaluation of future air combat systems, weapons, countermeasures, sensing, and communications.

The role bridges operational aviation experience into modeling, simulation, and analysis; prior experience as a modeling and simulation analyst is not expected.

The team conducts mission-level analysis to inform acquisition decisions on precision strike technologies.

What you will do

  • Apply tactical aviation experience to mission-level analysis of advanced air combat and strike warfare systems.
  • Develop scenarios, mission vignettes, concepts of employment, tactics, and measures of effectiveness for aircraft and mission systems.
  • Work with analysts, software developers, engineers, military operators, program offices, and decision-makers to frame questions and evaluate operational effectiveness.
  • Learn and apply modeling and simulation tools to assess missions at system, system-of-systems, and force-structure levels.
  • Interpret results, identify operational insights, communicate limitations, and brief technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Contribute research on future air combat, strike warfare, electronic warfare, autonomy, teaming, and force employment.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field, or equivalent relevant military or professional experience.
  • Operational experience in multiple aspects of tactical or test air missions, including planning, leading, evaluating, executing, or instructing.
  • Experience applying or developing tactics, techniques, procedures, concepts of employment, mission plans, or operational test approaches.
  • Ability to communicate complex operational concepts clearly with technical teams, government civilians, military officers, and partners.
  • Comfort learning technical and quantitative analysis methods, including modeling and simulation, data analysis, scripting, or scientific computing workflows.
  • Must be able to obtain Interim Secret clearance by start date and ultimately obtain Top Secret clearance; eligibility requires U.S. citizenship.

Additional qualifications

  • Tactics officer, weapons officer, operational test professional, instructor, mission commander, or advanced weapons and tactics school experience is advantageous.
  • Experience with modeling, simulation, operations research, mission analysis, data analysis, scripting, AFSIM, Brawler, or Suppressor is advantageous.
  • Experience leading teams, mentoring, instructing tactical concepts, or developing others’ operational judgment is advantageous.
  • Active Secret or higher clearance is advantageous.
