Supervisor - Solar

Role purpose

Field operations and maintenance

• Direct and supervise technician teams and subcontractors across scheduled site maintenance.
• Oversee preventive maintenance and ensure components are serviced to manufacturer guidelines.
• Lead corrective maintenance response, fault isolation, and preliminary diagnostics to minimize generation downtime.
• Manage robotic, semi-automated, and manual module cleaning and enforce water quality and panel-protection practices.
• Manage and maintain site inventory of testing tools, safety equipment, consumables, and critical spare parts.

Safety, testing, and quality

• Conduct daily Toolbox Talks and pre-task risk assessments and Job Safety Analyses.
• Enforce Permit to Work, client access rules, Lockout/Tagout, arc-flash precautions, and PPE requirements.
• Ensure safe work at heights on rooftops and with lifelines, scaffolding, and elevated work platforms.
• Guide diagnostic procedures and support performance verification and thermographic inspections for hotspots, diode faults, and loose terminations.
• Review subcontractor work against technical task sheets and quality standards before site signoff.

Reporting and team coordination

• Liaise with facility management, landlords, security teams, and client representatives.
• Prepare daily field logs covering completed work, anomalies, weather, subcontractor headcounts, and outstanding snags.
• Escalate electrical failures, inverter errors, and recurring faults to the O&M Engineer with field notes and photographs.
• Allocate manpower, vehicles, and work schedules across sites; investigate failures and recommend corrective actions.
• Assist with site handovers, walkdowns, equipment checks, snag identification, and handover documentation.
• Submit service and root cause analysis reports with findings, corrective actions, and supporting photographs.
• Identify skills gaps, coach technicians and helpers, assess performance, and enforce attendance and conduct standards.

Education, experience, and technical skills

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or certified equivalent technical vocational qualification.
• Valid UAE manual light vehicle driving license; regular site travel is required.
• At least 6 years of hands-on solar PV installation, commissioning, or O&M experience.
• At least 3 years managing field personnel and subcontractors in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
• Competence in C&I solar PV architecture, including inverters, DC string combiners, and LV distribution boards.
• Proficiency interpreting SLDs, layout schematics, and manufacturer service documentation; familiarity with electrical test instruments.
• Working knowledge of UAE utility safety guidelines, such as DEWA/Shams Dubai, ADDC, or SEWA.
• Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Standards and languages

• Awareness of IEC 62446 and BS 7671 or local wiring regulations is required; exposure to MV switchgear and transformers is advantageous.
• Working proficiency in spoken and written English is required; Hindi or Urdu is advantageous.

Working conditions

• The role requires regular travel between solar sites and outdoor work in warm conditions, including climbing ladders and working safely at heights.
• The supervisor must participate in an on-call or standby rota, including occasional night, weekend, and public holiday callouts.
• Field work must follow UAE summer midday work-break requirements and site heat-stress procedures.
