Opportunity

Join AIMCo's Application Delivery team, which executes large-scale projects across functions including public and private investments, investment finance, and middle- and back-office operations.

Work with financial technology applications in asset management and gain exposure to investment industry practices, fintech, and project management.

This is a full-time term from January 2027 through April 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Work with agile Application Delivery teams to implement projects and change initiatives.
  • Configure, document, and present accounting functionality during implementation projects throughout the project life cycle.
  • Prepare project artifacts and assist with documenting business processes and regression test suites.
  • Use business analysis methods to support enterprise initiatives, identify workflow issues, and implement solutions.
  • Facilitate requirements-gathering sessions with subject matter experts and create and validate system specifications.
  • Support Front Office initiatives involving portfolio management, trading, compliance, and investment operations.
  • Identify process optimization, automation, and operational risk-reduction opportunities with business stakeholders.

Candidate qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in undergraduate business or quantitative studies, such as finance, economics, mathematics, computer science, or engineering.
  • Returning to studies after the work term or completing final work-experience terms.
  • Able to gather business requirements with subject matter experts; knowledge of investment operations is specified.
  • Experience with Agile Scrum or Kanban and Azure DevOps, Mural, and Confluence.
  • Programming or database technology experience is desirable; examples include Python, SQL, XML, XSLT, MS SQL Server, Oracle, C#, jQuery, CSS, and HTML.
  • Coursework or project experience in AI, machine learning, data analytics, data science, or related fields.
  • Interest in financial markets, understanding of financial concepts, and foundational knowledge of capital markets and investment management.
  • Exposure to OTC derivatives, fixed income, and private market investments; strong research and problem-solving abilities.

Learning and success measures

  • The student is expected to learn about AIMCo's business units and collaborate on data pipelines that improve collaboration and transparency through knowledge transfer and effective communication.
  • The role encourages trying to solve issues independently before seeking guidance from team members.

Application and screening

  • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis; the posting gives a closing date of October 10, 2026.
  • Final candidates undergo credit bureau and criminal record screening, subject to acceptable results.
