Structural Test Technician

Position overview

Key responsibilities

• Set up and calibrate test rigs and instruments, and oversee manufacture of test jigs and fixtures.
• Assist with static loading, vibration, fatigue, and other structural tests.
• Operate test equipment and collect real-time data through sensors and data acquisition systems.
• Inspect setups for alignment, secure components, and safety compliance.
• Troubleshoot issues and maintain or repair test equipment.
• Document results and deviations and assist with reports.
• Collaborate with engineers on design requirements and test setup improvements.
• Follow safety protocols and keep equipment calibrated and in working condition.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent certification in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, or 5–7 years of similar experience.
• Hands-on structural testing experience with aerospace, UAV, or military systems, including static, dynamic, and fatigue tests.
• Proficiency with load cells, strain gauges, vibration tables, and data acquisition systems.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and test plans and troubleshoot test equipment and data acquisition systems.
• Familiarity with aerospace materials and their behavior under stress, vibration, and loading.
• Ability to perform basic mechanical assembly and experience with safety protocols for high-stress testing.

Desirable skills

• UAV or advanced aerospace platform experience and knowledge of composite materials.
• Familiarity with MIL-STD, ASTM, or other aerospace test standards.
• Experience with CAD software or data analysis software such as LabVIEW or MATLAB.
