Role overview

Responsibilities

• Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and cost plans; monitor actuals against budgets; investigate variances; and track manufacturing, NRE, and NPI costs.
• Lead month-end settlement of development and prototype production orders in EBS/SAP CO and allocate NPI actuals to the correct program and cost object.
• Coordinate development-cost inputs to entity cash flow, month-end close, and project settlements with FP&A.
• Manage IAS 38 R&D capitalization, development-cost asset schedules, capitalization triggers, and amortization profiles.
• Analyze material, labor, and overhead costs; support product costing, standard costing, and cost allocation.
• Prepare cost analyses and business cases for new products; conduct make-or-buy analysis and capital investment appraisals.
• Monitor project expenditure, commitments, and forecasts; ensure compliance with policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.
• Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Program Management, and FP&A; report performance, risks, and opportunities to management.
• Support internal and external audits.

Basic qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Five to six years of cost accounting experience, with a strong track record in NPI or R&D finance.
• Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, or equivalent); strong working knowledge of IAS 38 is essential.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience developing cost architectures for complex engineered systems in aerospace, defense, or comparable high-technology manufacturing.
• Experience in manufacturing finance, cost accounting, or project finance.
• Understanding of stage-gate product development and design-to-cost principles.
• Hands-on SAP CO experience and familiarity with development-order and WBS settlement.
