About the company

ADASI provides end-to-end solutions in the autonomous systems industry, with a strong presence in the MENA region.

ADASI is part of EDGE, a UAE-headquartered advanced technology group focused on defense and emerging technologies.

Role overview

The Principal Engineer will lead guidance algorithm, flight-control law, and autopilot development for aerospace and defense platforms.

The role involves control-system analysis, simulation, and validation with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver safe, stable, high-performance solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of guidance algorithms, control laws, autopilot functions, and control-allocation systems.
  • Perform flight-dynamics modeling, stability analysis, robustness assessment, and nonlinear simulation.
  • Develop and validate solutions using MATLAB/Simulink and relevant engineering tools.
  • Verify and validate through simulation, SIL/PIL/HIL, ground testing, and flight testing.
  • Investigate control-system anomalies, performance issues, and simulation-to-test discrepancies.
  • Maintain requirements traceability and technical documentation, and support safety and airworthiness compliance.
  • Lead technical work packages and engineering reviews, and mentor engineers.

Basic qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace, aeronautical, electrical, mechanical, or control engineering, robotics, applied mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of relevant aerospace or safety-critical control-system engineering experience.
  • Hands-on control-law, guidance-system, autopilot, or control-allocation experience.
  • Strong knowledge of flight dynamics, control theory, stability, robustness, and nonlinear simulation.
  • Practical MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent-tool experience; experience in control-system verification, simulation, and testing.
  • Ability to independently lead complex engineering activities.

Preferred qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in guidance, control systems, aerospace engineering, flight control, robotics, or a related field.
  • Experience with aircraft, UAVs, missiles, spacecraft, or other dynamic aerospace platforms.
  • Knowledge of advanced control techniques, gain scheduling, uncertainty analysis, and guidance algorithms.
  • Experience with Python, C/C++, Stateflow, and embedded real-time systems.
  • Exposure to SIL/PIL/HIL, ground and flight testing, and simulation-to-test correlation.
  • Familiarity with aerospace safety, airworthiness, software assurance, and configuration management.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and supporting technical design reviews.
