Specialist Urologist

Overview

Clinical Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with urological disorders.
• Manage conditions affecting the kidneys, ureters, bladder, prostate, urethra, and male reproductive organs.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Order and interpret laboratory investigations, imaging studies, and diagnostic procedures.
• Provide outpatient and inpatient urological consultations.
• Conduct follow-up evaluations and monitor treatment outcomes.
• Refer patients to other specialists when necessary.

Surgical Responsibilities

• Perform minor and major urological procedures within the approved scope of practice.
• Carry out endoscopic and minimally invasive procedures such as:
• Cystoscopy
• Ureteroscopy
• Prostate procedures
• Stone management procedures
• Circumcision and minor urological surgeries
• Provide pre-operative and post-operative patient care.
• Participate in emergency urological procedures and on-call duties as required.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
• Complete clinical documentation according to DHA and hospital standards.
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety programs.
• Ensure compliance with infection control and clinical governance policies.
• Attend departmental meetings, medical audits, and multidisciplinary discussions.
• Contribute to continuing medical education activities.

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognized by the UAE authorities.
• Postgraduate qualification in Urology such as:
• MS Urology
• MCh Urology
• FRCS
• Arab Board
• European Board
• Equivalent recognized specialty qualification.
• Valid medical registration from the country of practice.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 3–5 years of post-specialty experience in urology.
• Experience in outpatient and inpatient urological care.
• Experience in endourology and minimally invasive procedures is preferred.
• Previous GCC experience is an advantage.
