Consultant Vascular Surgeon

Overview

Clinical Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with vascular diseases.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and review medical histories.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices.
• Provide outpatient, inpatient, and emergency vascular consultations.
• Manage vascular emergencies including acute limb ischemia and vascular trauma.

Surgical Responsibilities

• Perform open vascular surgical procedures.
• Perform endovascular interventions including angioplasty and stenting.
• Treat conditions such as:
• Peripheral arterial disease
• Aortic aneurysms
• Carotid artery disease
• Varicose veins
• Deep vein thrombosis
• Chronic venous insufficiency
• Diabetic vascular complications
• Conduct preoperative evaluations and postoperative follow-up care.
• Manage surgical complications and ensure continuity of care.

Multidisciplinary Collaboration

• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Collaborate with cardiologists, radiologists, intensivists, and anesthesiologists.
• Refer patients to other specialties when required.
• Contribute to integrated patient care pathways.
• Quality and Governance
• Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
• Adhere to DHA regulations, hospital policies, and international clinical standards.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and clinical governance programs.
• Ensure patient safety and risk management compliance.

Academic And Professional Duties

• Participate in continuing medical education activities.
• Mentor junior doctors, residents, and medical students.
• Attend departmental meetings, conferences, and case discussions.
• Participate in research and clinical audits when applicable.

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
• Completion of accredited residency training in General Surgery.
• Higher specialty qualification in Vascular Surgery such as:
• CCT/FRCS (UK)

• American Board Certification

• Arab Board

• European Board Certification

• Fellowship qualification recognized by UAE authorities.
• Valid BLS and ACLS certifications.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 3–5 years of post-board or post-specialization experience at consultant level.
• Demonstrated expertise in both open and endovascular vascular procedures.
• Experience managing elective and emergency vascular cases.
