Full-time, non-management Sous Chef role specializing in pastry and bakery within Food and Beverage and Culinary at a Dubai hotel.
The position is not remote.
Kitchen and food preparation
- Supervise and coordinate cooks and kitchen workers.
- Determine food presentation and create decorative displays; ensure proper portions, arrangement, and garnish.
- Monitor food quantities, prepare special meals or substitutes, and support cooks with tasks and needed items.
- Tell Food and Beverage staff about menu specials and items that are out of stock.
Inventory, quality, and safety
- Monitor kitchen supplies and food stock and maintain food safety and product logs.
- Check food quality and notify the manager when a product does not meet specifications.
- Follow safety and security procedures, report maintenance needs or incidents, and complete safety training.
Team and service duties
- Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching employees.
- Address guest service needs, maintain positive working relationships, support team goals, and meet quality expectations.
- Perform the stated standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting duties.
Preferred qualifications
- Technical, trade, or vocational school degree preferred.
- 4 to 6 years of related work experience preferred.
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
