Optum is seeking a Software Engineering Lead to deliver enterprise-grade technology solutions that support health and care-related services.
The role focuses on scalable software applications, APIs, microservices, cloud-native platforms, technical leadership, and engineering quality.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain complex applications, APIs, microservices, and platform capabilities.
- Lead medium-to-large software features across multiple systems and platforms.
- Perform design reviews, code reviews, technical assessments, and architecture reviews.
- Drive CI/CD, automated testing, observability, security, and infrastructure automation practices.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and improve reliability and performance.
- Build reusable frameworks, automation utilities, shared services, and engineering accelerators.
- Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with architects, product owners, and cross-functional teams.
- Support deployments across development, testing, staging, and production environments.
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools to improve productivity, testing, documentation, and development processes.
Required Qualifications
- B.E., B.Tech., MCA, a relevant bachelor's degree, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 4 years of software engineering experience delivering enterprise-grade applications.
- Experience with scalable web applications, APIs, microservices, cloud-native solutions, and enterprise platforms.
- Hands-on experience with source control, CI/CD, automated testing, and code quality tools.
- Experience with Agile, Scrum, and modern software development methodologies.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages, including Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Understanding of design patterns, object-oriented programming, distributed systems, data structures, and algorithms.
- Strong debugging, system analysis, performance tuning, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Knowledge of event-driven systems, RESTful services, containers, Kubernetes/OpenShift, and platform engineering.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, data modeling, and database performance optimization.
- Exposure to healthcare, claims processing, compliance, security, or other regulated environments.
- Experience with AI-assisted engineering, modernization initiatives, or application transformation.
- Familiarity with Splunk, Dynatrace, Grafana, Prometheus, or Application Insights.
