Role overview

The Software Engineering Lead owns Azure DevOps proof-of-concept configuration, CI/CD engineering, source-code migration, repository strategy, and security governance.

Azure DevOps configuration

  • Configure and validate Azure Boards, Repos, Pipelines, and Artifacts.
  • Design projects, teams, Areas, Iterations, backlogs, and work-item processes aligned with delivery needs.
  • Establish reusable standards, naming conventions, governance controls, and administration procedures; troubleshoot issues with engineering, architecture, security, and infrastructure teams.

CI/CD engineering

  • Build and maintain robust Azure DevOps YAML pipelines and, where required, Classic pipelines.
  • Create reusable templates for build, test, security validation, artifact publishing, and deployment.
  • Configure environment-specific approvals, checks, release gates, service connections, and segregation-of-duties controls.
  • Troubleshoot failures, improve reliability, document support procedures, and ensure pipelines are auditable, secure, and suitable for controlled enterprise environments.

Migration and repository strategy

  • Migrate source code from Version Manager to Azure Repos while preserving history, structure, traceability, and access controls.
  • Assess repositories, branches, builds, dependencies, and release workflows; plan migration waves, validation, rollback, reconciliation, and cutover.
  • Partner with application teams to validate migrated code, repository integrity, pipeline functionality, and development continuity.
  • Define Git Flow or fit-for-purpose branching strategies; configure branch policies, pull-request rules, merge strategies, status checks, and protections.
  • Guide development teams on Git practices, repository hygiene, conflict resolution, and controlled code promotion.

Security and governance

  • Configure ADO security groups, project and repository permissions, role-based access, service accounts, and least-privilege controls.
  • Implement approvals, auditability, traceability, and evidence requirements for regulated or controlled environments.
  • Coordinate with identity and security teams on Microsoft Entra ID integration, credential management, and access reviews.
  • Document the security model, support periodic access certification, and remediate permission issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least seven years of overall IT experience, including significant hands-on DevOps, configuration management, release engineering, or platform administration.
  • At least four years of hands-on Azure DevOps administration and engineering experience.
  • Experience configuring Azure DevOps services, projects, teams, work-item structures, deployment controls, and permissions.
  • Solid Git/Git Flow knowledge and working knowledge of PowerShell, Bash, Python, or equivalent scripting and automation tools.
  • Expertise creating and supporting enterprise Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and stakeholder-collaboration skills.
  • Proven ability to design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions with no-code, low-code, and advanced platforms.

Company policy

The role requires compliance with applicable company policies and directives, which may include changes to work location, team assignments, schedules, and flexible work arrangements.
