Software Engineer – Digital Payments

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Design and implement retry, circuit-breaker, failover, timeout, and graceful-degradation patterns.
• Improve availability, recoverability, and fault tolerance; address incidents and recurring production failures with permanent fixes.
• Implement resilience controls across APIs, messaging, databases, and external integrations.
• Improve monitoring, alerting, health checks, and automated recovery; conduct resilience, failover, and disaster-recovery testing.
• Work with architecture, infrastructure, production-support, and vendor teams; support modernization and scalability.
• Review code, follow secure-coding standards, and document designs, procedures, runbooks, and support handovers.

Required skills and experience

• Hands-on Java/J2EE and Spring Boot development and resilience-framework experience with Resilience4j, Hystrix, or equivalent.
• Distributed systems, microservices, REST APIs, and API gateway experience.
• Messaging experience with IBM MQ, Kafka, or AMQ.
• Oracle PL/SQL, SQL performance tuning, Linux/Unix scripting, monitoring, CI/CD, DevOps, and Kubernetes or OpenShift experience.
• Banking/payment domain and high-availability systems experience are required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including production troubleshooting under pressure.

Preferred certifications

• Oracle Certified Professional Java Developer, RHCE, AWS, Azure, ITIL Foundation, and CKAD certifications are listed as preferred, not mandatory.

Tools and platforms

• Preferred stack includes Java 8/17+, Spring Boot and Spring Cloud, Resilience4j, Oracle, PL/SQL, REST, Kafka, AMQ, IBM MQ, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Linux, Git, and Dynatrace.
• Listed tools include JIRA, Confluence, GitHub, TFS, SonarQube, Postman, STS, Eclipse, SoapUI, Dynatrace, ServiceNow, and IBM MQ Explorer.
• Exposure to AI-assisted coding tools and practices is listed.
