Role Overview

Alignerr is seeking Software Engineers to help train AI systems to understand and generate software.

The role involves building, evaluating, and improving AI-generated code through hands-on engineering work.

The position is fully remote and flexible, with work available for 10–40 hours per week.

Engagement Details

  • The engagement is an hourly contract role.
  • The expected commitment is 10–40 hours per week.

What You'll Do

  • Write, debug, and optimize code across a range of languages, frameworks, and problem domains.
  • Review AI-generated code for correctness, efficiency, readability, and best practices.
  • Identify bugs, logic errors, security issues, and performance bottlenecks in AI outputs.
  • Provide structured, detailed feedback explaining why code works or does not work.
  • Design coding prompts and edge-case scenarios to stress-test AI capabilities.
  • Compare and rank AI-generated solutions based on engineering quality.
  • Work independently and asynchronously on your own schedule.

Who You Are

  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Python, JavaScript, Java, C++, Go, TypeScript, or similar.
  • Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
  • Ability to read, write, and reason about code clearly and precisely.
  • Strong problem-solving instincts and a systematic debugging approach.
  • Clear written communication and ability to explain technical decisions in plain language.
  • Self-motivated and reliable when working independently without supervision.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to Have

  • Experience across multiple languages or technology stacks, including full-stack, backend, systems, or data engineering.
  • Familiarity with AI or machine learning concepts, large language models, or prompt engineering.
  • Background in code review, technical writing, or mentoring junior developers.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, DevOps, or distributed systems.
  • Competitive programming, open-source contributions, or side projects demonstrating software engineering ability.
  • An advanced degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

Work Arrangement

  • The role is fully remote and flexible.
  • Work can be performed from anywhere on a self-managed schedule.

The role directly influences how AI writes, understands, and reasons about code.
