The Omnichannel Metrics team is part of Measurement, Ad Tech, and Data Science within Amazon Ads.

The role owns architecture and delivery of major system components and works across distributed data, machine learning, and product development.

Key responsibilities

  • Build scalable Spark/EMR pipelines on Kestrel processing billions of ad-impression and panel-receipt events.
  • Lead architecture for calibration, reporting, and data-processing systems across pipelines and AWS accounts.
  • Deliver major features end to end, including streaming attribution, AI-powered reporting, and new vertical measurement frameworks.
  • Improve observability, eliminate silent failures, and build self-healing systems to meet advertiser SLAs.
  • Mentor engineers, lead design and code reviews, and establish engineering best practices.
  • Partner with applied scientists and product managers to productionize machine-learning requirements.
  • Investigate calibration anomalies, optimize Spark processing, and design systems that reduce reporting latency.

Technologies and domain

  • The role works across Scala, Java, and Python and uses big-data technologies including Apache Spark, Kestrel, and Amazon EMR.
  • AWS technologies include Lambda, DynamoDB, Step Functions, and CDK.
  • The work involves distributed systems, relational and non-relational data modeling, machine-learning productionization, and streaming attribution.
  • The product domain is omnichannel advertising measurement and attribution.

Basic qualifications

  • At least 3 years of non-internship professional software-development experience.
  • At least 2 years designing or architecting new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
  • Programming experience with at least one software language.

Preferred qualifications

  • At least 3 years of full software-development lifecycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.

Compensation

  • The Toronto base salary range is CAD $114,800–$191,800 annually.
  • Total compensation may include sign-on payments and restricted stock units; final compensation depends on experience, qualifications, and location.
