Senior Specialist back-end engineering role reporting to a Senior Manager, building cloud-based data solutions for global financial markets.
The position supports production-grade software systems used by external clients.
Responsibilities
- Lead production issue triage and investigation, implement code or configuration fixes, and coordinate deployments.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain back-end applications for critical financial market infrastructure.
- Work with product managers and global teams to turn business requirements into scalable, reliable software.
- Conduct code reviews, contribute to technical design, uphold engineering standards, and mentor junior colleagues.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of back-end software engineering experience and strong Java proficiency.
- Hands-on cloud infrastructure experience, particularly AWS.
- Knowledge of relational databases, SQL, REST APIs, and Spring/Spring Boot.
- Strong problem-solving and production troubleshooting skills.
Preferred experience
- Data lake or data warehousing concepts, big data technologies, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes are nice to have.
Schedule
- Set hours are Wednesday through Sunday, noon to 8 p.m. Eastern Time.
Work arrangement
- Position is in Toronto with a hybrid arrangement requiring at least three office days per week, subject to change.
Compensation and benefits
- Base pay range is $104,000–$148,000; the posting also describes an annual bonus/commission, equity, benefits, and growth opportunities.
