Site Operations Manager - Limestone Quarry Operations

Role overview

Production planning, quality and productivity

• Translate approved production targets and client requirements into daily and weekly operating plans.
• Monitor production quantity and quality against targets, investigate variances, and lead corrective actions.
• Maximise usable limestone recovery while minimising contamination, material losses, and unnecessary handling.
• Coordinate material movement from the mining face to the production line.
• Monitor loading and haulage cycle times, equipment deployment, queues, and idle time; resolve bottlenecks.

Equipment and maintenance

• Maintain equipment registers and hour-meter records, and arrange repairs to faulty meters.
• Ensure daily equipment inspections, operating hours, and defects are recorded and verified.
• Establish preventive maintenance schedules based on manufacturer requirements, equipment hours, and condition.
• Arrange parts and technicians in advance and coordinate planned downtime with production needs.
• Verify completed services and maintain work orders, equipment histories, parts usage, and maintenance costs.
• Track overdue maintenance and unresolved defects, escalating critical risks promptly.

Breakdowns and operating budget

• Lead breakdown response with operators, mechanics, and maintenance engineers; assess likely causes, repair options, and spare-part needs.
• Prioritise repairs by safety, production impact, cost, stock availability, and supplier lead times; track repair through safe return to service.
• Record downtime causes and investigate recurring failures.
• Monitor site spending against budgets for diesel, lubricants, labour, maintenance, tyres, spare parts, and other operating costs.
• Review cost per tonne and maintenance cost by equipment, explain variances, and provide weekly spending needs for cash-flow planning.
• Track pending purchase requests, purchase orders, and repair commitments; revise fleet, shift, and spending plans when client production requirements change.

Parts, inventory and fuel controls

• Verify part specifications, compatibility, and stock before purchases; assess repair or replacement options and compare approved suppliers where appropriate.
• Set critical-spares lists and reorder levels; enforce documented purchase requests, approvals, receipts, and issues.
• Record parts against machines or maintenance jobs and maintain secure stores, stock counts, and independent reconciliations.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies and control tools, replaced components, repair returns, scrap, and obsolete stock.
• Control fuel and lubricant purchasing, receipt, storage, issue records, and stock reconciliation; investigate unexplained differences or suspected pilferage.
• Monitor diesel consumption against equipment hours and production, compare similar equipment, and investigate abnormal use, idling, leaks, or unauthorised use.

Employment and workplace

• Employment type is full-time.
• The role is on-site in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, with regular field presence.

Requirements

• Experienced site operations manager with responsibility for leading daily site operations.
• Strong technical judgment on heavy equipment.
• Ability to lead operators, drivers, labourers, foremen, supervisors, and engineers, coordinating with maintenance, procurement, and accounts teams.
• Regular field presence at the quarry site.
• Capability to establish dependable controls for production, maintenance, expenditure, inventory, and workforce deployment.
