Role overview

Technical maintenance and engineering
- Diagnose complex sonar faults and root causes using diagnostic software, test equipment, and maintenance documentation.
- Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs, including component replacement, testing, and recommissioning.
- Escalate complex issues requiring specialist engineering support and recommend system performance improvements.
- Support engineering plans, technical investigations, reliability assessments, lifecycle support, and continuous improvement.
Records, inventory, and compliance
- Keep maintenance, defect, repair, and intervention records current; prepare maintenance reports and stakeholder updates.
- Track spare-parts inventory and consumption, identify critical spare requirements, and support replenishment planning.
- Follow approved procedures, quality standards, safety regulations, and site health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Support audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
Stakeholder engagement
- Act as a technical interface among operational personnel, engineering teams, and maintenance management.
- Build effective working relationships in a multicultural, multidisciplinary environment and deliver professional customer support.
Essential qualifications and experience
- Strong theoretical and practical sonar knowledge, particularly towed-array or variable-depth sonar technologies.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, and testing sonar equipment and associated subsystems.
- Proficiency using diagnostic software, calibration tools, and electronic test equipment.
- Experience supporting complex defence, naval, maritime, or mission-critical systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
Desirable experience
- Previous operational or military naval sonar support experience is desirable.
- Knowledge of Integrated Logistics Support and through-life support is desirable.
- Multinational team and customer-facing support experience is desirable.
- Former military technical or naval engineering experience is advantageous.
