A senior technical software engineer is a participating member of an agile feature team, working independently on software development and problem resolution.
The role covers technical design, development, implementation, and maintenance of software products supporting Emirates Group business.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy complex product solutions and review architecture patterns.
- Drive engineering practices, automation, lean development, built-in quality, test-driven development, and agile delivery.
- Investigate problems, future requirements, and existing solutions; create high-level designs, proofs of concept, and prototypes.
- Debug complex issues, evaluate technologies, and contribute to architectural reviews and sprint planning.
- Mentor software engineers and ensure technical delivery meets design and coding standards.
- Maintain products and ensure platforms, tools, and libraries align with approved architecture.
Qualifications and experience
- Degree or honours qualification in a relevant field such as computer science, computational mathematics, computer engineering, or software engineering.
- At least five years of Java application development experience using Java 8, 11, or 17 with Spring Boot.
- Expertise in Java frameworks, frontend technologies, messaging, containerization, cloud, databases, APIs, CI/CD, and scalable architectures.
Technology skills
- Java; Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring WebFlux, JPA, Hibernate, and JUnit or TestNG.
- ReactJS and NextJS; Solace, Tibco, Kafka, and Netflix OSS familiarity.
- Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift; AWS or Azure hybrid cloud; Oracle SQL or similar RDBMS and NoSQL.
- RESTful APIs, CI/CD, DevOps, event-driven architecture, reactive programming, and SRE principles.
- SonarQube and ShiftLeft are mentioned as code quality tools for familiarity.
