Senior Technical Software Engineer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Deliver technical design, development, and deployment of complex product solutions; review designs to ensure appropriate architecture patterns.
• Drive engineering practices, process automation, lean development, built-in quality, test-driven development, and agile practices.
• Perform root-cause analysis and blameless incident post-mortems.
• Work with cross-functional teams to assess viability, evaluate needs and existing solutions, and drive high-level design, proofs of concept, and prototypes.
• Investigate, debug, and fix complex issues, including corner cases; evaluate new technologies for architectural review.
• Contribute expertise to sprint and work planning and technology communities of practice.
• Manage and mentor software engineers and ensure technical deliveries follow design and coding standards.
• Ensure effective use of approved enterprise platforms, tools, and libraries; coordinate product maintenance with other capabilities.

Qualifications and experience

• Relevant degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or a related field, plus 5+ years as a software engineer.
• Experience building complex software for large organisations in multifunctional environments; strong data modelling, systems design, and coding expertise.
• Production support experience using ITIL and deep full-stack capability across UI, middleware, and databases.
• Experience in technology evaluation, vendor selection and management, lean development, test-driven development, continuous integration, and continuous deployment.
• Experience with SDLC, Agile/SAFe, CI/CD, DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
• Strong security knowledge for Kubernetes and OpenShift, and knowledge of observability metrics, logs, and traces and their effect on application health and performance.
• Extensive experience developing and deploying responsive websites and prebuilt or headless CMS.
• Extensive experience with identity and access management, SSO, OAuth 2.0, API integration, data privacy, and risk assessment frameworks.

• Java 11–17; Spring, Spring Boot, Spring Core, Spring Reactive, Spring Data, JPA/Hibernate, design patterns, reactive programming, and microservices.
• ReactJS, Redux, Node.js, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, OpenAPI, REST, and SOAP.
• MS SQL, Oracle, PL/SQL, and data modelling.
• GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, Bitbucket, Maven, Confluence, and JIRA.
• Cloud technologies, enterprise platforms, CI/CD, DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
• Identity and access management, SSO, OAuth 2.0, API integration, CMS, data privacy, and risk assessment.
