Role overview

Technical reviews and coordination

• Review prequalification documents, material submittals, technical compliance statements, shop drawings, design calculations, method statements, and engineering submittals.
• Review architectural, structural, and MEP coordination drawings, including rebar shop drawings and BBS.
• Manage engineering submission, material submittal, shop drawing, RFI, and rebar call-off logs against the approved baseline program.
• Review initial and detailed design drawings and provide technical input before authority submission and construction.
• Coordinate with consultants, project managers, construction, planning, commercial, procurement, QA/QC, MEP, and subcontractor teams to resolve technical issues.
• Coordinate timely closure of RFIs, technical queries, design discrepancies, consultant comments, and site technical issues.

Procurement, quality, and project delivery

• Prepare and review technical packages and compliance documents for procurement and contractor, supplier, and subcontractor finalization.
• Evaluate the technical capabilities, experience, compliance, and suitability of proposed suppliers and subcontractors.
• Support tender evaluation, techno-commercial review, and vendor and subcontractor selection with procurement and commercial teams.
• Propose value engineering, alternative materials, and technical solutions to save cost and time without compromising quality.
• Visit sites to monitor technical compliance, assess construction issues, and provide practical solutions.
• Monitor technical deliverables and prevent critical submissions from delaying procurement, construction, or completion.
• Review method statements, ITPs, QA/QC requirements, and technical quality documents with the QA/QC department.
• Coordinate as-built drawings, O&M manuals, testing and commissioning documents, warranties, and other handover documents.

Team and project management

• Lead technical engineers, technical coordinators, draftsmen, BIM and engineering resources, and document controllers, as applicable.
• Hold technical coordination meetings and monitor team KPIs, targets, submission status, and pending actions.
• Prepare engineering and procurement interface schedules with planning and procurement teams to align approvals with the project baseline program.
• Identify technical risks, design coordination issues, and potential delays early and take corrective action.
• Ensure technical work follows approved drawings, specifications, contract documents, UAE regulations, international standards, and company quality requirements.
• Provide technical input to project and commercial teams on variations, claims, contract requirements, and scope clarification.
• Manage multiple projects and prioritize critical deliverables according to project schedules and construction requirements.

Qualifications and experience

• Minimum 10 to 15 years of total experience, preferably with more than eight years in the UAE.
• Experience in commercial, residential, or mixed-use buildings; mid-rise and high-rise projects are preferred.
• Experience with a reputed contracting or real estate development company.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• A Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is an added advantage.
• Strong technical knowledge, hands-on construction experience, problem-solving, and decision-making ability.
• Strong communication, coordination, negotiation, and leadership skills when working with clients, consultants, authorities, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
