Role overview

Meraki Integrated Contracting seeks a Senior Technical Manager focused on construction and structural-engineering projects.

The role manages project documentation, compliance, submittals, coordination, schedules, and quality.

Technical delivery

  • Review pre-qualification documents, material submittals, compliance statements, shop drawings, design calculations, method statements, and other engineering submittals.
  • Review architectural, structural, and MEP coordination drawings, including rebar shop drawings and bar bending schedules.
  • Manage engineering, material, shop-drawing, RFI, and rebar call-off logs against the approved baseline programme.
  • Review initial and detailed design drawings and provide technical input before authority submission and construction.
  • Coordinate consultants, project managers, construction, planning, commercial, procurement, QA/QC, MEP teams, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues.
  • Prepare technical packages and compliance documents; evaluate supplier and subcontractor suitability and support tender and vendor reviews.
  • Provide value engineering, alternative material proposals, and solutions that reduce cost or duration without compromising quality.
  • Conduct periodic site visits, monitor technical compliance, and provide practical construction solutions.
  • Coordinate closure of RFIs, technical queries, design discrepancies, consultant comments, and site technical issues; monitor pending submissions and risks.
  • Support method statements, ITPs, QA/QC requirements, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, testing and commissioning documents, and handover records.

Team and project coordination

  • Lead technical engineers, coordinators, draftsmen, BIM/engineering resources, and document controllers, as applicable.
  • Hold technical coordination meetings and monitor KPIs, targets, submission status, and actions.
  • Maintain engineering/procurement interface schedules with Planning and Procurement to align approvals with the project programme.
  • Identify technical risks, design coordination issues, and potential delays early and take corrective action.
  • Ensure technical activities follow approved drawings, project specifications, contract documents, UAE regulations, international standards, and company quality requirements.
  • Provide technical input to Project and Commercial teams on variations, claims, contract requirements, and scope clarification.
  • Manage multiple projects and prioritize critical technical deliverables; report to the General Manager or Project Director, as applicable.

Requirements

  • 10–15 years of total experience, preferably with more than 8 years of UAE experience, in commercial, residential, or mixed-use buildings.
  • Mid-rise or high-rise project experience is preferred; experience should be with a reputed contracting or real-estate development company.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is an added advantage.
  • Strong technical knowledge, hands-on construction experience, problem-solving and decision-making ability, and leadership, communication, coordination, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize technical deliverables.
