About the Role

System Design and Architecture

• Define landing gear system requirements and architecture in alignment with airframe and mission requirements.
• Develop specifications for shock absorbers, struts, actuators, wheels, and retraction systems.
• Manage the design life cycle in accordance with ARP4754.
• Perform sizing and configuration trade-off studies based on mission profiles, landing loads, and ground-operation constraints.
• Establish requirements, design, verification, and integration activities for custom-developed systems.
• Prepare System Design Descriptions and Design Data Packages.

Integration and Analysis

• Lead integration with structural, avionics, hydraulic, and control systems.
• Define and manage mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic interfaces and maintain Interface Control Documents.
• Conduct or support static loads, kinematic, dynamic, and fatigue analyses.
• Develop system safety assessments, including FHA, FMEA, and PSSA.
• Establish verification and validation activities and support ground and flight testing.

Requirements and Lifecycle Management

• Manage landing gear requirements and traceability using DOORS or an equivalent tool.
• Ensure requirements are allocated, verified, and traceable throughout the development life cycle.
• Ensure compliance with aerospace and defense standards, regulations, and airworthiness criteria.
• Support design reviews, technical documentation, maintenance planning, and obsolescence management.

Supplier and Stakeholder Management

• Evaluate and monitor landing gear suppliers and subcontractors.
• Review supplier technical deliverables, design activities, and verification evidence.
• Contribute to manufacturing, support, lifecycle, and obsolescence strategies.
• Coordinate with mechanical, structural, avionics, flight controls, safety, quality, manufacturing, testing, certification, and program teams.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Systems Engineering, or a related field is required.
• At least 10 years of aerospace systems engineering experience, including at least 8 years of direct landing gear design or integration experience.
• Experience on UAV, aircraft, or rotorcraft programs involving mechanical systems or airframe integration.
• Experience in safety-critical system design and system design life-cycle activities.
• Experience with requirements, design, integration, verification, validation, and technical documentation.
• Experience managing supplier design and development activities.
• Knowledge of systems engineering, CAD, analysis, actuation, safety, certification, environmental qualification, configuration management, and aerospace standards.
• English proficiency is required for the role.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering is preferred.
• INCOSE Systems Engineering Certification is preferred.
• Training or certification in aircraft structural analysis or landing gear design is advantageous.
• Awareness of AS9100D and related quality systems is preferred.
