Role overview

Core responsibilities

• Set up technical teams, monitor schedule progress, and lead technicians, operators, and subcontractors.
• Support the Commissioning Engineer or Coordinator and coordinate work fronts, personnel availability, and site transport.
• Ensure PPE, permits to work, and toolbox talks are in place before work begins.
• Monitor work quality and progress in the field, report schedule risks, and recommend corrective changes.
• Prepare testing dossiers and supporting drawings and procedures, maintain records, and ensure procedures are followed.
• Review spares usage and identify improvements to commissioning work.
• Control commissioning areas, energized systems, barricades, access, and SIMOPS; identify and mitigate HSSE risks.
• Ensure compliance with company fire, safety, and environmental procedures and standards.

Mechanical commissioning expertise

• Execute mechanical commissioning activities and guide technicians.
• Monitor and maintain rotating equipment, including vibration, lubrication, seals, gland packing, and bearings.
• Prepare rotating equipment for first start-up and confirm readiness, including alignment, lubrication, packing, greasing, and strainer installation.
• Guide preservation and maintenance of rotating equipment after commissioning and start-up.
• Assist with lube oil flushing, alignment, lubrication, vibration checks, and start-up.
• Assist with installation of static equipment internals to drawings and specifications.
• Assist with mechanical interlocks, pipeline pigging, spring support settings, and overhead crane testing.
• Assist with air blowing, flushing, leak testing, flange management, drying, and inerting of piping.
• Apply API, ASME, NBBI, ISO, BS, and ANSI codes and standards for valve testing and repairs.
• Interpret P&IDs, process flow diagrams, circuit diagrams, and control narratives accurately.
