Role overview

Construction leadership and controls

• Lead site-based multidisciplinary supervision and contractors using a 90-day look-ahead; monitor daily construction progress and help subcontractors select execution methods.
• Monitor subcontract scope, contract requirements, personnel and equipment efficiency, timesheets, scope changes, and subcontractor compliance.
• Support technical decisions, coordinate client approvals with field engineering, and review construction method statements.
• Lead schedule reviews, review weekly plans, report progress, identify delays, recommend remedial actions, and forecast completion dates.
• Manage vendor mobilization, installation prerequisites, site attendance, timesheets, costs, and forecasts.

Safety, quality, and completion

• Review subcontractor HSSE plans, lead toolbox talks, inspect site housekeeping, address unsafe conditions, and encourage reporting of near misses and unsafe acts.
• Verify ITPs and QCPs, monitor quality and personnel competency, inspect received materials, and ensure adequate storage and preservation.
• Attend mechanical completion walkdowns, resolve technical queries and non-compliance reports, and support punch-list closeout and commissioning planning.
• Coordinate client concerns, report quantities accurately, and record construction feedback.

Mechanical and piping execution

• Oversee mechanical equipment, package, piping, and painting installation and related quality inspections.
• Manage rotating machinery preservation, review preservation check sheets, conduct periodic inspections, and plan preventive maintenance.
• Provide rotating-equipment advice and specialist inspection support; coordinate process piping activities.
• Review drawings and P&IDs; plan materials and work; apply flange management and pressure-test procedures and safety checks.
• Plan oil or water flushing, package-line leak testing and dewatering, and gas-lift or gas-injection line leak testing within package boundaries.
• Support system turnover and equipment pre-commissioning, including relevant process and utility systems.

Essential qualifications and experience

• 15+ years of mechanical and piping site experience in direct-hire construction with an international oil and gas EPC company and subcontractors.
• 15+ years of HVAC site experience in direct-hire construction with an international oil and gas EPC company and subcontractors.

Preferred experience and skills

• Experience in the CIS/FSU, Middle East, and/or North Africa and with a diverse international workforce is preferred.
• Knowledge of international codes and standards, especially ASME and API, and mechanical, piping, or HVAC site issues is preferred.
• Communication and interpersonal skills, English fluency, computer proficiency, problem solving, and ability to work under pressure are preferred.
• Lifting and scaffolding supervision training is preferred.

Technical systems and equipment

• Relevant systems include instrument air, fire water, nitrogen generation, seawater, gas and steam turbines, diesel fuel, heating and cooling media, gas compression, crude oil treatment, water injection, methanol, TEG, and chemical injection.
• Relevant equipment includes compressors, turbines, pumps, motors, cranes, and their auxiliaries; mechanical seal systems are part of the scope.

Workplace

• The role involves site-based construction and vendor coordination. Petrofac states that most office-based roles use a hybrid approach with at least three office days weekly; this role is site-based.
