Role purpose

Manage site construction activities and field personnel for mechanical/HVAC, piping, painting, insulation, refractory, and fireproofing scopes.

Make decisions on allocated mechanical/HVAC and piping work to support safe completion to schedule, quality, and budget.

Construction delivery and coordination

  • Direct field personnel and subcontractors against a 90-day look-ahead schedule and project plans.
  • Contribute to plans, schedules, and estimates; confirm workfront readiness before subcontractor mobilization.
  • Review subcontractor execution plans and coordinate critical work methods, sequencing, and workface planning.
  • Coordinate engineering and project teams to remove constraints; arrange materials and inspections as needed.
  • Review procedures, method statements, IFC documents, and drawings; resolve discrepancies and raise technical queries.
  • Ensure work follows contract requirements, management-system procedures, and applicable standards.
  • Monitor daily progress and report schedule, cost, and execution concerns to management.
  • Coordinate with clients, QC inspectors, other disciplines, and subcontractors to resolve site issues.

Quality, commercial, and handover

  • Oversee inspections, ITPs, inspection and test records, calibration status, non-conformances, corrective actions, and quality findings.
  • Track system completion, close punch items, and support commissioning planning and handover.
  • Review site instructions, variation orders, quantities, invoices, and subcontract changes, including scope and cost impacts.
  • Maintain equipment and bulk-material storage and preservation, and ensure design changes follow change control.

Mechanical and rotating equipment

  • Review mechanical IFC documents, resolve discrepancies, manage flange systems, and oversee pressure-test packages and test records.
  • Maintain spool tagging and traceability through fabrication, painting, pickling, or galvanizing.
  • Resolve rotating-equipment issues with vendors and end users, covering turbines, compressors, pumps, drives, packages, and auxiliary systems.
  • Prepare engineering narratives and technical specifications, answer queries, review bids, and support subcontract finalization.
  • Coordinate precommissioning cleanliness procedures and commissioning plans, procedures, start-up checks, troubleshooting, and equipment handover.
  • Ensure required spare parts, tools, and trained personnel are available; understand condition-monitoring outputs and act on findings.

Skills and qualifications

  • Thorough working knowledge of international codes and standards, especially ASME and API codes and practices for equipment and piping.
  • Knowledge and experience resolving mechanical/HVAC, piping, painting, insulation, refractory, and fireproofing issues on site and guiding subcontractors.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Construction personnel and subcontractors must be competent and hold valid technique certifications where required.
  • Training in lifting and scaffolding supervision is preferred.
