Senior Supervisor - Commissioning (Electrical)

Role overview

Primary duties

• Ensure commissioning activities are safe, efficient, and cost-effective; support commissioning engineers and coordinators.
• Set up technical teams, monitor schedule progress, assess team performance, and advise line management of changes needed.
• Confirm PPE availability and arrange PTW and toolbox talks in line with HSE requirements before work starts.
• Remain present in the field to oversee quality and progress; lead technicians, operators, and subcontractors.
• Coordinate disciplines, work fronts, site transport, and personnel availability.
• Prepare testing dossiers and documentation, including drawings, procedures, P&IDs, process flow diagrams, circuit diagrams, control narratives, and electrical schematics.
• Keep tool packages and job-specific commissioning procedures available; review spare-parts usage against plan.
• Investigate defective system or equipment operation and interfaces, troubleshoot, and suggest modifications.
• Maintain commissioning procedures, test records, and work documentation; perform other related duties as directed.
• Identify and mitigate HSSE risks; control commissioning areas, mark and barricade energized systems, and assess and control SIMOPS.
• Provide field support during SAT, energization, and functional testing; guide technicians and subcontractors in electrical commissioning.
• Ensure electrical tests follow procedure, record results, and resolve problems.

Electrical systems

• Work covers SMCC, MCC, SCADA systems, transformers, switchgear, motors, and heater testing.

Work arrangement

• The role requires field presence and supports site commissioning teams.

Requirements

• Ability to lead and organize teams of technicians, operators, and subcontractors to execute work safely.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, process flow diagrams, circuit diagrams, and control narratives accurately.
• Ability to work on SMCC, MCC, and SCADA systems, transformers, switchgear, motors, and heater testing.
• Knowledge of electrical commissioning, SAT, energization, functional testing, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to prepare testing dossiers and use drawings, procedures, single-line diagrams, and schematic logic diagrams.
• Ability to follow HSE requirements, permit-to-work processes, and commissioning safety controls.
