Senior Structural Engineer - Data Centre

Role overview

Construction supervision

• Supervise structural construction and check compliance with approved drawings, specifications, project standards, and codes.
• Review shop drawings, method statements, inspection and test plans, material submittals, and technical documentation.
• Monitor contractor performance, productivity, schedule, quality, and contractual compliance.
• Conduct site inspections, resolve construction and quality issues, and assess technical queries, RFIs, and proposals.
• Identify and mitigate structural risks and coordinate with resident engineers, inspectors, MEP, architecture, and project management teams.

Engineering oversight

• Review structural designs and calculations prepared by contractors, designers, and specialist consultants.
• Check compliance with project specifications, international standards, local regulations, and client requirements.
• Assess constructability and value-engineering proposals while protecting structural integrity and operational performance.
• Review temporary works designs, including formwork, shoring, excavation support, crane foundations, and temporary supports.
• Support multidisciplinary design coordination through construction and testing.

Data centre structural systems

• Oversee concrete, steel, and composite structures for data halls, administration buildings, utility plants, substations, generator buildings, and critical infrastructure.
• Monitor high-load floor systems, equipment supports, vibration-sensitive installations, long-span structures, and elements supporting mission-critical operations.
• Supervise foundation systems, including piled and raft foundations, equipment foundations, transformer plinths, generator foundations, and chiller supports.
• Coordinate structural interfaces, penetrations, embedded items, equipment support requirements, and temporary works with relevant disciplines.
• Verify resilience, redundancy, reliability, and operational performance requirements for Tier III and Tier IV data centre facilities.
• Support quality assurance and quality control through inspections, material reviews, testing verification, and non-conformance resolution.
• Mitigate technical, constructability, and delivery risks and support testing and commissioning.

Requirements

• Extensive experience supervising reinforced concrete and structural steel structures associated with hyperscale data centres.
• Experience with data halls, central utility plants, substations, generator buildings, cooling infrastructure, and associated support facilities.
• Ability to ensure structural works comply with project specifications, international standards, client requirements, and local authority regulations.
• Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams and support delivery of resilient, operationally critical facilities.
