Primary Designer role in Jacobs' Electrical capability, based in Bangalore, India.
The work covers primary design and BIM modeling for AIS/GIS substations and transmission and distribution systems up to 400 kV.
Responsibilities
- Design, model, and draft substation systems, including diagrams, schedules, specifications, and bulk material take-offs.
- Produce switchyard, substation, trench/tray, lighting, earthing, and lightning-protection layouts, and review technician work for technical quality.
- Resolve design issues, coordinate with leads, plan and communicate work, and attend client and project meetings.
- Deliver drawings to agreed quality and timelines, develop design-automation execution plans, and prepare presentations and technical documents.
Requirements
- Three years of experience in design and BIM modeling of AIS/GIS substation projects.
- Diploma is preferable; substation experience up to 400 kV is desirable.
- Proficiency in MicroStation and AutoCAD; excellent working knowledge of Revit/Inventor substation modeling software, clash detection, Navisworks, and Revizto.
- Good communication and IT skills, knowledge of work procedures, and ability to work independently and with a team.
- Experience developing and implementing design-automation project execution plans.
- Experience with Bentley ProjectWise and BIM 360 is desirable.
Preferred tools and knowledge
- Automation tools such as Dynamo, RF tools, and Ideate, and knowledge of COBie are preferable.
