Senior Structural Engineer - Data Centre

Role overview

Construction supervision

• Supervise structural construction against approved drawings, specifications, standards, and codes.
• Review shop drawings, method statements, ITPs, material submittals, and technical documentation.
• Monitor contractor performance against schedules, quality standards, and contractual requirements.
• Conduct site inspections and resolve construction and quality issues; review RFIs, technical queries, and contractor proposals.
• Identify and mitigate structural risks and coordinate with resident engineers, inspectors, MEP engineers, architects, and project managers.

Engineering and data center systems

• Review structural designs and calculations and check compliance with standards, regulations, specifications, and client requirements.
• Assess constructability and value engineering while maintaining structural integrity and operational performance.
• Review temporary works, including formwork, shoring, excavation support, crane foundations, and temporary structural supports.
• Oversee reinforced concrete, steel, and composite structures for data halls, utility plants, substations, generator buildings, and support facilities.
• Monitor high-load floors, equipment supports, vibration-sensitive installations, long-span structures, foundations, and other heavy-duty elements.
• Coordinate structural interfaces with architectural, civil, MEP, ICT, and commissioning teams.
• Verify resilience and operational performance requirements for Tier III and Tier IV facilities; support inspections, testing, commissioning, and handover.

Stakeholder coordination

• Liaise with clients, contractors, design consultants, specialist vendors, and authorities.
• Attend technical meetings, progress reviews, coordination workshops, and project inspections.
• Provide technical recommendations and prepare reports and progress updates for clients.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
• 12–15 years of overall structural engineering, design review, and construction supervision experience.
• 3–5 years of direct experience on hyperscale data centers, Tier III/Tier IV data centers, mission-critical facilities, or digital infrastructure projects.
• Experience supervising reinforced concrete and structural steel structures and complex foundation systems.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams through construction and commissioning and managing inspections, technical reviews, contractor compliance, and quality assurance.
• Experience with FIDIC-based contracts and international project delivery frameworks.

Work arrangement

• Onsite employees are expected to attend a Jacobs Workplace on a full-time basis, as required by the nature of the role.
