About the Role

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, test, and maintain UAV GCS software using C/C++.
• Develop HMI/UI applications for mission planning, vehicle control, telemetry, payload management, and flight monitoring.
• Integrate GCS software with autopilots, flight-control systems, sensors, avionics, payloads, and communication systems.
• Develop TCP/IP, UDP, CAN, Ethernet, RF/SATCOM, and UAV datalink interfaces and real-time processing for mission data.
• Work with RTOS, embedded platforms, simulation, and HIL environments; develop automated unit, integration, and system tests.
• Troubleshoot system issues, support field and flight testing, and contribute to architecture, traceability, technical reviews, and cybersecurity.
• Support compliance with DO-178C and STANAG 4586 and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer or electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related discipline.
• Seven to ten or more years of relevant software engineering experience and strong hands-on C/C++ experience.
• Experience with real-time, embedded, or mission-critical software; RTOS; Linux and/or Windows; and software architecture.
• Understanding of object-oriented design, multithreading, distributed systems, hardware/software integration, and communication interfaces.
• Experience with software testing, integration, verification, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• UAV GCS, UAS, command-and-control, mission-critical control software, flight-control, autopilot, navigation, sensor, or payload integration experience.
• HIL or simulation, automated testing, flight-test, FreeRTOS, VxWorks, QNX, ARM, or STM32 experience.
• UAV datalinks, RF/SATCOM, telemetry, real-time communications, DO-178C, STANAG 4586, or mission-critical HMI/UI experience.
• Aerospace, UAV, defence, robotics, or other mission-critical systems experience.

Work Environment and Language

• The role is based in Abu Dhabi and includes support for field testing and UAV flight-test activities.
• English proficiency is required for roles at EDGE unless otherwise stated in the job posting.
