Position overview

Senior developer role building and maintaining Pulse, a BSS/OSS platform for UK alternative network and ISP operators, plus AIVA and Lens.

Combines hands-on software engineering with technical leadership, architectural discipline, and developer mentoring.

Pulse platform design envelope is 2 million subscribers and 50,000 events per second.

Software development and delivery

  • Design and maintain domain services to meet availability, performance, and security targets.
  • Deliver across TypeScript, NestJS, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Redis, Kong API Gateway, Keycloak, and Kubernetes.
  • Work from specification and design through development, testing, deployment, and support under a Spec Driven Development workflow.
  • Respect engineering ground rules, domain designs, data ownership boundaries, and platform baselines.
  • Build event-driven services with event envelopes, transactional outbox, and idempotent consumers; instrument traces, logs, and metrics.
  • Apply timeouts, retries with backoff, circuit breakers, and defined fallbacks at integration boundaries.
  • Contribute to AIVA and Lens, including on-premises LLM inference, voice pipeline integration, and device telemetry.

Team and stakeholder responsibilities

  • Mentor junior developers, provide third-level support, and support recruitment, onboarding, and training.
  • Act as the highest escalation point for complex production issues across internal software.
  • Work with senior management, product owners, and stakeholders to understand, prioritize, and deliver requirements.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and issues to technical and non-technical audiences; manage supplier and customer relationships, including negotiation.

AI-assisted delivery and improvement

  • Use AI-assisted engineering tools routinely; Claude Code and GitHub Spec Kit are preferred examples.
  • Use AI tools safely, respecting UK data residency, the prohibition on PII in logs, and the approved tooling list.
  • Keep up with AI, DevOps, and relevant industry trends, and improve tools, environments, and delivery processes.

Technical qualifications and experience

  • Strong TypeScript and Node.js expertise; NestJS is ideal, with solid relational database skills in PostgreSQL.
  • Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design, hexagonal or clean architecture, contract-first APIs, versioning, and anti-corruption layers.
  • Practical experience with Kafka or an equivalent broker, containers, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.
  • Experience with OpenTelemetry instrumentation, distributed tracing, and alerting.
  • Working knowledge of secure engineering, OAuth2, OpenID Connect, data protection by design, UK data residency, and GDPR obligations.
  • At least 5 years of software development experience is stated; a later experience section specifies 7+ years, including senior or lead responsibility on a complex platform.
  • Experience designing and building event-driven distributed systems in production.

Education and additional experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; a master's degree is a plus.
  • Experience managing senior stakeholder expectations and tight deadlines, and introducing technologies and methodologies into delivery processes.
  • Previous involvement in recruitment, training, and mentoring of development staff; coaching or mentoring experience is also described as beneficial.
  • VoIP development, telephony billing/CDR systems, wireless networks, on-premises or self-hosted LLM inference, and AI tooling are listed as pluses in parts of the description.
  • BSS/OSS telecom experience or a comparable regulated billing and service-delivery platform is a strong advantage; legacy migration experience with live customers and dated cutover gates is a plus.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills; ability to balance priorities in a fast-paced, distributed Dubai/UK team.

Salary

  • AED 12,000–15,000 per month, based on experience and qualifications.

Work arrangement

  • Full-time role; work location is in person.
