Role Overview
The Senior Resident Engineer oversees construction activities to ensure contractor work complies with contract documents, authority regulations, and site requirements.
The role focuses on high-quality, financially efficient delivery within project timelines and client objectives, with coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and staff construction supervision activities with the Construction Supervision HOD.
- Monitor progress and report compliance with client time, cost, and quality expectations.
- Administer construction contracts and enforce health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Manage reports, non-conformities, corrective actions, logs, plans, drawings, specifications, change orders, and back-charge records.
- Provide technical guidance on scope, schedules, procedures, and site construction challenges.
- Lead design reviews and identify constructability, coordination, and material-selection issues.
- Chair progress meetings with clients, contractors, stakeholders, and project teams.
- Manage design changes and approvals; review contracts to safeguard stakeholder rights and obligations.
- Implement company Quality Management Systems and ensure compliance with local authority regulations and construction codes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering; a Master’s degree or PMP certification is preferred.
- Certified Engineer with GCC engineering membership.
- At least 15 years of experience in a Resident Engineer role.
- Strong knowledge of local construction laws and regulations and familiarity with international and regional construction codes and standards.
- Proven commercial and contract management experience.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
