Senior Project Manager (Substations / Power Infrastructure Construction)

Role overview

The opportunity

• Provide visible onsite leadership, assess progress, and ensure safe work practices.
• Coordinate snagging with client, consultant, and contractor teams, including schedule and partner engagement.
• Identify issues proactively and work with the team to resolve them.
• Implement and monitor project processes and partner with the client on improvements.
• Lead and attend progress meetings, collaborate on solutions, and communicate impacts to partners.
• Implement project procedures and support their consistent observance.
• Own the substation/power workstream and escalate key risks and decisions to the Project Director.

Experience and qualifications

• Minimum 12–15 years of relevant project delivery experience with a track record managing complex electrical/power infrastructure projects.
• Significant substation experience is strongly preferred, ideally with HV/EHV substations, grid connections, and transmission/distribution infrastructure.
• Manage substation projects through design, authority/utility interfaces, procurement, construction, testing, energisation, and handover.
• Data center/mission-critical experience is advantageous; strong data center electrical infrastructure experience may be considered with appropriate HV/substation knowledge.
• GCC/Middle East experience, especially with local utilities, authorities, and approval processes, is sought.
• Experience with Tier 1 consultants, EPC contractors, OEMs, and specialist electrical contractors on major infrastructure or mission-critical programmes.
• Strong understanding of HV systems, substations, transformers, switchgear, protection/control systems, grid connections, and interfaces.
• Strong interface, contractor, consultant, programme-controls, client-facing, stakeholder-management, communication, and leadership capabilities.
