Senior Mechanical Engineer

Role overview

Design and coordination

• Lead design and implementation of high-rise mechanical systems, and review architectural, structural, and electrical drawings for integration.
• Prepare technical specifications, drawings, and reports and ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and client requirements.
• Oversee junior engineers, draftsmen, and consultants; coordinate stakeholders and resolve system interface conflicts.

Technical delivery and project management

• Resolve technical issues during design, construction, and commissioning; conduct site visits to check installation, quality, and design compliance.
• Support mechanical cost estimates, budgets, and expense tracking; participate in project meetings and milestone reviews.
• Ensure mechanical systems are commissioned and operating as designed before client handover.

Quality and improvement

• Monitor installation, testing, and commissioning quality and prepare approval documents, calculations, performance data, and test reports.
• Propose improvements to system performance, sustainability, and energy efficiency; lead implementation of BIM tools for design coordination.

Education and experience

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• Requires 8–10 years of mechanical engineering experience, including significant high-rise project experience.
• Requires hands-on design and installation experience with HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and related systems.
• Requires experience managing mechanical works on large-scale commercial or residential high-rise projects.

Technical qualifications

• Requires expertise with tools such as AutoCAD and Revit and other relevant modeling and simulation software.
• Requires knowledge of ASHRAE, NFPA, local regulations, and building services integration including BIM.
• Energy modeling, building performance analysis, and sustainable design familiarity are listed among technical qualifications.
• PE License or equivalent is a plus; LEED accreditation or familiarity with sustainable building practices is preferred.

Leadership and communication

• The candidate should be able to lead and mentor engineers, designers, and contractors and communicate technical concepts to clients and stakeholders.
