POWERTECH specializes in design, engineering, and manufacturing of combustion, expendable turbojet, and turbofan engines for aerospace, defence, and autonomous applications.

Role Summary

The Material Engineer selects, qualifies, and oversees materials for the turbofan propulsion system from intake through engine to exhaust, ensuring performance, durability, and certification compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Organize materials database knowledge and strategy.
  • Advise product engineering teams on material behavior and characteristics during component and system design and validation.
  • Support industrialization, engineering manufacturing, and supply chain teams across production from raw materials to delivery.
  • Define and approve materials for compressor, turbine, combustion chamber, casing, shaft, bearing, intake, and exhaust components.
  • Manage material risks and criticality, and assess performance and manufacturing scenarios.
  • Define material qualification and testing as needed, including creep, LCF/HCF, and corrosion testing.
  • Investigate root causes and metallurgical issues and assess material non-conformances.
  • Support supplier qualification and audits.
  • Prepare materials deliverables and compliance documentation.

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 8 years of experience in turbofan propulsion, aerospace, or other complex engineered systems.
  • Expertise in nickel superalloys, titanium alloys, CMC, single-crystal materials, stainless steels, ceramic coatings, TBC, and composites.
  • Knowledge of materials testing, behavior laws, parameters, and characterization.
  • Understanding of turbofan architecture, integration constraints, performance drivers, and technology interfaces.
  • Experience with or exposure to manufacturing and machining processes, production, FAI, validation, and qualification.
  • Knowledge of ASTM, ISO, and AMS standards.
  • English proficiency is required unless otherwise stated.

Preferred Qualifications

  • An engineering degree, MSc, or PhD in Materials Science or equivalent is preferred.
  • Ability to structure complex information into actionable product decisions under pressure is preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate across multicultural engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and commercial teams is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented approach are preferred.

Benefits
