EDGE is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to provide design solutions for complex UAV projects.
Responsibilities
- Participate in R&D for UAV/UAS and UGV systems; design and optimize mechanical structures, airframes, and assemblies.
- Create 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and bills of materials for prototypes and production.
- Design lightweight, manufacturable components with attention to strength, weight, and reliability.
- Support prototype manufacturing with CNC machining, composites, sheet metal fabrication, and additive manufacturing.
- Integrate propulsion, payloads, landing gear, avionics mounting, and structural components.
- Support assembly, ground and flight testing, troubleshooting, and engineering validation; investigate root causes and implement design improvements.
- Collaborate with electronics, software, manufacturing, and flight test teams; maintain engineering drawings, reports, assembly instructions, change requests, and test reports.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.
- 5+ years of hands-on mechanical design, product development, and system integration experience in UAV/UAS, UGV, or aerospace systems.
- Strong 3D CAD experience using SolidWorks, CATIA, Siemens NX, CREO, or similar software.
- Practical experience with UAV structures, airframe development, prototype assembly, and mechanical integration.
- Hands-on composite structures, CNC machining, additive manufacturing, rapid prototyping, prototype manufacturing, mechanical testing, flight testing, and design validation experience.
- Good understanding of DFM, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and engineering drawing preparation.
- Experience in multidisciplinary R&D, rapid product development, and engineering change implementation.
