Role overview
The Workday Solutions Senior Manager is accountable for the Workday platform’s architectural integrity, including configuration, integrations, data model, and security.
The role governs and evolves Workday technical design and leads functional configuration, security, and data analysts.
The position combines hands-on technical design with people leadership to support a stable, governable, and extensible platform.
People leadership
- Prioritize team work across business-as-usual security, data management, workflow configuration, and project initiatives.
- Build team capability through cross-training, useful secondments, and identifying growth paths.
- Promote documentation, peer review, and knowledge sharing so design decisions are not held by one individual.
Design and build
- Own functional design standards for business processes, security groups, data models, and integrations.
- Maintain design standards, patterns, and reusable configuration and integration frameworks.
- Review configuration changes, tenant customizations, and integrations for architectural fit, scalability, and risk before build.
- Lead complex cross-module or cross-system work such as module rollouts, M&A integrations, and AI-agent data-access patterns.
Integrations and platform management
- Co-design and oversee integrations using Workday Studio, EIBs, Core Connector, and Workday APIs or web services.
- Map dependencies across Workday and connected systems, including ServiceNow, SAP, downstream vendors, and data platforms.
- Partner with IT on tenant and environment strategy and release management, including regression and impact assessment.
Security, data, and collaboration
- Maintain the Workday–SAP coexistence framework and direct security analysts on implementation and ongoing administration.
- Oversee Workday–SAP data synchronization, data quality, and extracts, aligning outputs with broader data architecture.
- Partner with HR and IT to govern Workday data for reporting, Snowflake, and AI-agent consumption.
- Establish quality-control and peer-review practices for design, security changes, and data deliverables.
- Serve as senior technical escalation point, mentor Digital Solutions teams, and partner with ServiceNow, IT, enterprise architecture, and security teams.
Required qualifications
- Requires 7+ years of Workday experience with expert-level technical capability.
- Requires practical experience with Phenom, VNDLY, ServiceNow, S/4 HANA, Microsoft access management, and other global enterprise applications.
- Requires prior people-management experience, ideally leading technical or analyst teams.
- Requires deep expertise in Workday data model, security architecture, and business-process framework.
- Requires hands-on experience with Workday Studio, EIBs, Core Connectors, PECI, RaaS, and Workday APIs.
- Requires experience managing tenant and release strategy across a multi-module Workday deployment.
- Requires strong enterprise data-governance and security knowledge; regulated-industry experience, particularly financial services, is preferred.
- Requires ability to translate ambiguous business requirements into scalable technical designs and communicate trade-offs to varied audiences.
Preferred qualifications
- Workday certifications in Integrations, HCM Core, Procure to Pay, or Security are preferred.
- Experience supporting AI or data-platform initiatives that consume Workday data, including Snowflake or similar pipelines, is preferred.
- Large matrixed-enterprise experience and exposure to formal change and release governance are preferred.
- Exposure to ServiceNow or other HR service-delivery platforms is preferred.
