Responsibilities
- Align API initiatives with enterprise architecture, data strategy, and reusable adoption goals; establish KPIs for performance, adoption, business impact, and risk.
- Lead Open API development and lifecycle management in line with Open Banking standards, including PSD2 and UAE Central Bank guidelines.
- Collaborate across product, compliance, and architecture to shape API strategy; champion secure, reusable, developer-friendly API-first design.
- Enable fintech partnerships and third-party integrations; maintain API documentation, sandbox environments, and developer portals.
- Ensure APIs are discoverable, version-controlled, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
- Provide technical leadership to API engineering teams and promote innovation and continuous improvement.
- Manage delivery roadmaps, capacity planning, and resource forecasts; ensure IT governance, security, and regulatory compliance.
- Work with architecture, security, and infrastructure teams to support scalability and resilience; promote DevSecOps, CI/CD, and test automation.
Requirements and qualifications
- 12 or more years of overall experience, including at least 8 years in banking.
- Deep understanding of Open Banking frameworks, API security, OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong experience with API management platforms, such as Apigee, Kong, or WSO2.
- Expertise in RESTful API design, JSON, and Swagger/OpenAPI specifications.
- Familiarity with domain-driven design and microservices architecture.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex stakeholder environments; strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.
- Proficiency in API analytics, usage tracking, and performance optimization.
- Experience with API management, cloud-native services, and Kubernetes.
