Develop and support large-scale financial applications as they are modernized and evolved.
The role combines Angular front-end development, Java/Spring back-end development, and deployment and support in Google Cloud Platform environments.
Workplace
- Hybrid role requiring work from the Markham office at least two to three days per week; this arrangement may change.
Responsibilities
- Define and implement enterprise application features with product, business-analysis, architecture, and development partners.
- Design and support Angular applications and reusable user-interface components; integrate them with REST APIs and Java/Spring back ends.
- Build scalable services with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, JPA, and REST APIs; develop and enhance GCP-hosted applications.
- Support modernization and cloud migration to GCP and apply cloud-native and microservices patterns.
- Participate in planning, estimation, technical discussions, code reviews, and testing.
- Troubleshoot issues across UI, APIs, applications, databases, batch processing, and cloud infrastructure; support performance optimization and CI/CD.
- Collaborate with distributed cross-functional teams and provide technical guidance to developers.
Required qualifications
- Eight or more years of full-stack application development using Java/Spring and modern web technologies; eight or more years of Oracle Database and SQL development and performance analysis.
- Hands-on enterprise development with Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Spring Batch, JPA/Hibernate, RESTful services, and JSON.
- Experience with GCP and deploying or supporting enterprise applications in GCP environments; familiarity with GCP compute/GKE, networking, IAM, storage, monitoring, databases, and deployment services.
- Knowledge of Angular architecture, including components, services, routing, forms, dependency injection, RxJS, state/data handling, and REST integration.
- Experience designing REST APIs and developing and supporting large-scale batch-processing applications.
- Understanding of cloud-native architecture, containerization, Kubernetes, microservices, scalability, resiliency, and distributed systems.
- Application modernization and migration to GCP experience is strongly preferred.
