About the organization

ADVANCED CONCEPTS is an EDGE entity focused on designing and deploying advanced technologies.

Its work includes autonomous systems, unmanned aerial systems, precision loitering munitions, cruise missiles, and guided artillery munitions.

Core accountabilities

  • Use PCB design software for schematic capture, component library management, SPICE analysis, and layout design.
  • Design electronic safety and arming devices to military standards such as MIL-STD-1316.
  • Design with FPGAs, MCUs, and DDR memories, and create advanced multilayer PCB layouts using blind-buried vias, via-in-pad, BGA, SMT, and PTH components.
  • Design PCBs for harsh military environments and embedded systems, including integration of passive and active components.
  • Separate analog and digital layout domains to maintain signal integrity and minimize interference.
  • Create power-system PCB layouts covering placement, routing, power planes, and thermal management; design for low EMI and noise through grounding, shielding, and filtering.
  • Generate BOMs, Gerber files, assembly drawings, and detailed PCB documentation compliant with applicable IPC and military standards.
  • Mentor and train junior technical personnel; use debugging tools and test and troubleshoot hardware with oscilloscopes and logic analysers.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 8 years of experience in VHDL code writing.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Altium Designer.
  • Track record of successfully functioning PCB designs in a defense context and capability to troubleshoot PCB prototype hardware.
  • Knowledge of digital electronics, power supplies and converters (buck, boost, fly-back, inverters, and DC/DC), high-speed data handling, and the defense industry.

Technical scope

  • PCB design, embedded systems, FPGA, MCU, DDR memory, signal integrity, EMI mitigation, and power-system design.
  • Hardware testing, troubleshooting, SPICE analysis, and use of oscilloscopes and logic analysers.
  • Applicable IPC and military standards, including MIL-STD-1316.
