About EDGE

EDGE is a UAE-headquartered advanced technology group working in defense and emerging technologies.

HALCON is seeking a senior engineer for its Rocket Propulsion team.

Role overview

Lead design, development, analysis, and qualification of advanced composite structures for next-generation solid rocket motor systems.

Work spans composite motor cases, nozzle structures, thermal protection systems, and propulsion hardware from concept through qualification and production.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze composite rocket motor cases, nozzle structures, thermal insulation systems, and airframe components.
  • Develop and qualify filament winding, hand lay-up, tape winding, and automated fiber-placement manufacturing processes.
  • Use FEA and Classical Laminate Theory to validate designs and establish structural margins.
  • Support material selection, insulation design, propulsion integration, and composite qualification and testing plans.
  • Collaborate across propulsion, thermal, mechanical, manufacturing, and quality teams; support prototype builds and qualification testing.
  • Review supplier and manufacturing data; mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
  • Prepare specifications, manufacturing documentation, technical reports, and design-review presentations; assess emerging materials and technologies.

Basic qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Materials, or Polymer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of composite structures engineering experience in aerospace, defense, space, or advanced manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated design and development of high-performance composite structural components.
  • Hands-on experience with filament winding, hand lay-up, AFP, ATL, and tape-winding processes.

Technical expertise

  • Strong knowledge of composite materials, structural mechanics, and manufacturing processes.
  • Composite structural analysis using Abaqus, Nastran, ANSYS, or equivalent FEA tools; proficiency in Classical Laminate Theory and composite failure analysis.
  • Experience in material qualification, testing, and certification; familiarity with ASTM, CMH-17/MIL-HDBK-17, and aerospace quality requirements is requested.
  • Understanding of propulsion systems, pressure vessels, rocket motor structures, or related aerospace applications is highly desirable.

Preferred experience

  • Strongly encouraged experience includes solid rocket motors, missile systems, launch vehicles, space propulsion, composite pressure vessels, aerospace primary structures, or defense systems development.

Benefits and development

  • EDGE describes learning academy and digital-learning opportunities, career support, and opportunities to collaborate with international teams.
  • Competitive tax-free salaries are stated; benefits may include family visas, annual flight tickets, medical insurance, and children's education allowances, depending on role and seniority.

Workplace and collaboration

  • The role is described as based in Abu Dhabi.
  • English proficiency is required for all roles unless otherwise stated.
